BIOGRAPHY

Rafat Siddique is the Senior Professor at the Dept. of Civil Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology working since August 1994. He obtained his B.Sc. Engg. in Civil Engineering in year 1986 from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He obtained his ME in Structural Engineering in  1988 from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani. He obtained his Ph.D from Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani in year 1993. He carried out his 22-months post-doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. He has extensive teaching and research experience in structural Engineering of more than 30 years.

He is rated amongst top 15 top researchers in the world in the area of sustainable construction materials/concrete technology having 12000+ Citations with H-Index of 61 (Google scholar).

STANFORD UNIVERSITY RANKING -- Ranked 17th in the world & 1st in India amongst 27014 authors in subject area of "Building and Construction" a list of top scientist subject-wise, an independent study conducted by Stanford University Scientists, led by Dr Ioannidis and his research team https://lnkd.in/gEhjKn4) shorturl.at/qHIJ4.

He has guided 13 Ph.D. and presently supervising 7 Ph.D. Candidates. He has supervised 55+ M.E. Dissertation. Published 240+ papers in reputed Q-1 Journals and Conferences; authored 04 books including two books by Springer titled “Waste Materials and By-products in Concrete” and “Supplementary Cementing Materials”.  Editor of two edited books by Elsevier titled “Waste and Supplementary Cementitious Materials in Concrete: Characterization, Properties and Applications” and “Self-Compacting Concrete: Materials, Properties and Applications”

He is the editor of Construction and Building Materials (Elsevier) and Associated Editor of Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering (ASCE), and Journal of King Saud University (Engineering Sciences). He is also on Editorial Board of several Elsevier Journals.

He has been Visiting/Invited Professor to number of universities in Bangkok, France, Germany, Finland, Mexico, U.K., Australia and USA.

Senior Professor Rafat Siddique research interest are in concrete technology and development of sustainable cement based material. Senior Professor Rafat Siddique having a 30 years of experience in material research. He has done a lot of work in the development of Self compacted concrete, Fiber reinforced concrete, usage of waste material in concrete,. He is also working in multidisciplinary field e.g. improvement in concrete properties by incorporating bacteria and fungus. He is also invited as a chairmen, key-note speaker, and expert lecture in various overseas universities.
